Poland’s Katarzyna Niewiadoma was crowned winner of the 2017 Women's Tour as Jolien D'hoore won the final stage of the race in London.

Niewiadoma began the day with a comfortable 1min 25sec advantage over Luxembourg’s Christine Majerus.

The lead did not prevent the WM3 Pro Cycling rider from featuring in an early 12 strong breakaway, as the 62 kilometre stage in Regents Park got off to a fast start.

Niewiadoma would eventually drop out of the lead group, which reduced to eight riders.

The move featured five Boels Dolmans riders, but they were unable to stay away as the peloton closed the gap with five laps to go of the race.

Attacks from South Africa’s Ashleigh Moolman Pasio and Olympic champion Anna van der Breggen of the Netherlands proved unsuccessful in the closing kilometres.

It led to a bunch sprint to decide the final stage winner, with D'hoore claiming victory in a time of 1 hour, 28min and 23sec.

Britain’s Hannah Barnes and Majerus would complete the top three, with both riders given the same time as the winner.

Having finished safely in the bunch, Niewiadoma was confirmed as the winner of the International Cycling Union (UCI) Women’s WorldTour race.

Majerus secured ended as the runner-up, ending 1:18 behind Niewiadoma in the overall standings.

The podium was completed by Barnes, who finished 1:30 adrift of the race winner.
