Viron Bezhani has been re-elected as President of the National Olympic Committee of Albania (KOKSH) following a General Electoral Assembly.

Bezhani faced a challenge for his position from one candidate, Ilir Trebicka, but returned to office after earning 50 votes to his opponent's 20.

Following a KOKSH Executive Committee meeting last month, it was announced that a vote would take place at the Adriatic Hotel in the port city of Durrës.

According to the KOKSH, President Bezhani 2thanked participants for their trust" and asked members of the Assembly to "maximise development efforts, spread the Olympic spirit and promote the values of Olympism in society" in his victory speech.

Vojo Malo was elected vice-president after defeating opponent Skender Anxhaku.

Malo claimed 49 votes to his rival's 21.

Genc Boga was the sole candidate for the role of treasurer and he received 64 out of a possible 70 votes.

As well as the Presidential election, eight people - Ela Tase, Agron Cuka, Ilir Gusho, Koco Mikerezi, Labo Capo, Erlind Dove, Renis Tershana and Ilir Gusho - were handed positions on the KOKSH Executive Committee.

Albania took part in their first Olympic Games at Munich 1972 and have competed in every Summer edition since Barcelona 1992.

The country has also been represented at the last three Winter Olympics.

But the country is still waiting to win its first Olympic medal.
