Paris 2024 chairman Tony Estanguet and the French capital's Mayor Anne Hidalgo each spoke following their arrival here for a IOC Session in which the French capital is set to be confirmed as host.

It follows tumultuous week in which Brazilian Olympic Committee chief and International Olympic Committee (IOC) honorary member Carlos Nuzman has been accused of buying votes during Rio de Janeiro's successful bid for the Games in 2009. 

"We want to highlight that since day one we have had a responsibility to be as transparent as possible because we know there is criticism with the population," Estanguet, the triple Olympic canoe slalom champion, said when asked for his response to these issues.

"We all know what happened to different bids in Europe and the objective of this team has been to promote the best values of the Olympics. 

"Personally the Olympics changed my life.

"I am sure it will be of great benefit to France and the population.

"We will continue to stand for those values, to fight and to make sure that the Olympics remain this fantastic event."

Estanguet cited a poll published in the Journal du Dimanche newspaper today suggesting they now have 83 per cent support for their bid across France.

This figure is a marked improvement on the 63 per cent support figure found for both Paris 2024 and France in an IOC-commissioned poll conducted at the beginning of the year.

Hidalgo added that convincing the French population of their "transparency" was always a key priority and reason for their success.

"In our cities today when you use public money you need to explain what you do with this money," she said.

"Transparency is very important.

"For me I'm not an athlete I'm a politician and we need to have trust and confidence with our citizens. 

"In our team [transparency] was very strong and it will be in the future of course."

A "vote" rubber-stamping Paris as 2024 host and Los Angeles as the location for 2028 is scheduled for Wednesday (September 13).

Estanguet claimed that their priority before then will be "less about lobbying for votes and more about delivering a message that we will be a good and successful partner for the Olympic Games".

He did not respond directly to a question about whether Paris and Los Angeles could now collectively pursue sponsorship and commercial arrangements.

He insisted, though, they want to work closely alongside their former American rivals.

"We are more than happy to have LA no longer as our competitors but as partners," he added.

"It is a real win-win in terms of organisation, innovation and promoting the Games."
