A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Pyeongchang 2018 and Yong In University for the "operation of manpower cooperation" at the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Yong In University, located in Gyeonggi Province, will "actively cooperate" with organisers in certain areas required for the Games.

They will help provide sports workers, safety personnel, recruitment, and training for the event, the first edition of the Winter Olympics and Paralympics to be held in South Korea.

The MoU was signed at the Seoul office of the Pyeongchang 2018 Organising Committee.

"In order to hold safe and successful competitions, it is important to secure excellent manpower and manpower," Pyeongchang 2018 President Lee Hee-beom said.

"We will do our utmost to create a new human heritage for winter sports through close cooperation with Yongin University, which is producing a lot of talented people in the field of sports."

Yong In University President Park Sun-kyung said the deal would continue the strong cooperation with organisers of the Winter Olympics and Paralympics in Pyeongchang.

The Winter Olympics are scheduled to be held from February 9 to 25, with the Paralympics due to take place from March 8 to 18.

"We will continue to maintain the cooperative relationship between the two organisations with this business agreement, and in particular, we will actively support the successful competition by selecting the talents required for running the competition as excellent talents," said Park.
