Second seed Pusarla V Sindhu suffered defeat in the women’s singles semi-finals of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) French Open in Paris.

The Indian star was unable to maintain the form which saw her set-up a last four match with Akane Yamaguchi as the Japanese player dominated proceedings at the Stade Pierre de Coubertin.

Yamaguchi took control of the match by winning the opening game 21-14, before wrapping up the victory by claiming the second 21-9.

The fifth seed is now due face the challenge of world number one Tai Tzu-Ying in the final of the BWF World Superseries event.

The Taiwanese player battled to a 21-14, 17-21, 21-8 win over He Bingjiao of China in her semi-final match.

Kidambi Srikanth progressed to his second straight final of a BWF competition, having won the Denmark Open earlier last week.

He came through a tight semi-final tie against fellow Indian H.S. Prannoy 14-21, 21-19, 21-18.

Srikanth is now scheduled to face Japanese qualifier Kenta Nishimoto as he aims to add to his victories at the Denmark, Indonesia and Australian Opens this year.

Nishimoto continued his impressive form by overcoming Denmark’s Anders Antonsen 21-17, 21-15.
