Hosts Russia secured two gold medals as the European Karate Federation Cadet, Junior and Under-21 Championships continued in Sochi.

Kristina Kozerenko triumphed in the women’s junior under-48 kilogram kumite event in the Russian city.

She overcame Madina Sadigova of Azerbaijan 5-4 in the final, having scored three points in the closing seconds of the bout.

Russian success continued when Daria Kohdova achieved a 2-1 win over Croatia’s Jelena Pehar in the women’s under-53kg junior kumite competition.

France were able to match the host nation’s gold medal tally on the second day, as Milton Boisseron surprisingly overcame Italian world champion Matteo Landi in the under-55kg junior men’s event.

Boisseron's triumph was followed by a success for his compatriot Killian Cizo in the men’s under-68kg junior kumite event.

The 16-year-old won the bout on a senshu decision against Montenegro’s Bojan Boskovic, after the contest ended 1-1.

England’s Charlotte Hope prevented further French gold, as she won an entertaining women’s under-59kg junior kumite final by 9-4 score against Assia Oukhattou.

There was further success for the Italian team, who had enjoyed a superb first day where they secured four titles.

Christian Ferrara clinched their fifth gold of the Championships, as he won the over-76kg men’s junior kumite final.

Ferrara won 4-0 against Slovakia’s Tomas Kosa.

World Championships silver medallist Hummat Bakhsaliyev of Azerbaijan won the men’s under-61kg junior kumite gold.

He won 2-1 against Macedonia’s Fahir Veseli.
