Denmark maintained their dominance of the European Team Badminton Championships as both their men's and women's teams breezed into the semi-finals in Kazan.

The Danish men's team have won all six editions of the tournament ever held while the women have won the last two and have only missed out twice.

Despite their line-up missing reigning world champion and Olympic silver medallist Viktor Axelsen, the men proved far too strong for Finland in their last eight tie today at the Kazan Gymnastics Centre in the Russian city.

They recorded a 3-0 win with Anders Antonsen coming from behind to get the first point on the board, beating Finland's Kalle Koljonen 19-21, 21-16, 21-16.

Denmark then moved to the brink of victory in the best-of-five affair as Emil Holst thrashed Iikka Heino 21-9, 21-11.

It was left to Jan Ø. Jørgensen to wrap up the win with a 21-11, 23-21 win over Henri Aarnio.

The singles successes meant neither of the two doubles matches needed to be played.

Awaiting Denmark in the semi-finals are Germany after they beat Czech Republic 3-1.

France edged Russia 3-2 while England beat Poland 3-0 in the remaining quarter finals.

In the women's event, the Danes brushed aside the English 3-0.

Mia Blichfeldt came from behind in the opener to beat Chloe Birch 18-21, 21-19, 21-17.

The second game was a doubles clash with Kamilla Rytter Juhl and Christinna Pedersen ousting Jess Pugh and Sarah Walker 21-13, 21-13.

England's Grace King then retired when 5-2 down in the first game against Line Kjaersfeldt, handing Denmark the victory.

They will now play hosts Russia who beat Bulgaria 3-1.

Germany saw off France 3-0 to set up a meeting with Spain, who were 3-2 winners over Turkey.

The semi-finals will be hosted tomorrow.

The tournaments are qualification events for the 2018 Thomas and Uber Cups.
