Cuba Domadores suffered their first loss of the World Series of Boxing (WSB) season with their team coming unstuck 4-1 in their away tie against the Uzbek Tigers.

The hosts began in promising fashion at the Universal Sport Complex in Tashkent, with Hasanboy Dusmatov delivering an accomplished performance to beat Johanys Argilagos.

Dusmatov, the reigning Olympic champion, was named as the winner of the 49 kilogram light flyweight contest on all three of the judges' scorecards.

Each of the judges awarded him a 48-47 verdict.

Double Olympic champion Robeisy Ramirez then suffered a surprise 56kg bantamweight defeat, with the Cuban losing unanimously to Shakhobidin Zoirov.

Zoirov was awarded a 49-46 win by the judges, putting the Tigers on the brink of victory in the best-of-five affair.

They would be made to wait, as light welterweight Andy Cruz gave the Domadores hope of a comeback.

He was awarded a victory on a split decision verdict as two judges gave him the contest by a 48-47 score, while the third judge opted to give his opponent Ikboljon Kholdarov the win by a 50-45 decision.

It only proved a brief respite for the Cuban squad, as Arlen Lopez suffered defeat in the 75kg middleweight division.

Israil Madrimov earned a 50-45 win on all the judges' scorecards to seal the Uzbek success.

Further gloss was added to the scoreline, as Sanjar Tursunov emerged as the winner of his 91kg heavyweight clash with Erislandy Savon.

All three judges had Tursunov narrowly ahead at the conclusion of the fight, as they gave him the result by a 48-47 score.

Despite the defeat, the Domadores remain at the top of the Group A standings, with two wins and one defeat.

Colombia Heroicos, Caciques Venezuela and the Uzbek Tigers all have one win to their names, although the latter have only had two fixtures to date.

The season will resume on Thursday (March 1), when the Tigers host Colombia.

The British Lionhearts are set to take on Italia Thunder in Group B the following day, while the Croatian Knights will host the France Fighting Roosters.

Indian Tigers will clash with the Patriot Boxing Team in Group C on the same day.
