The British Lionhearts will be looking to avenge their opening day defeat to France Fighting Roosters when they host them in their final World Series of Boxing (WSB) group match at the Newport Centre in Wales this weekend.

The Lionhearts have named Britons Will Cawley and Soloman Dacres on their team, who were both on the team that defeated France Fighting Roosters at last year's home match at York Hall, England.

They will be joined by compatriot Carl Fail, who will be making his WSB debut, and overseas fighters Joe Ward of Ireland and Dzmitry Asanau of Belarus, who have both competed for the Lionhearts in previous bouts.

The French team is expected to include Rio 2016 silver medallist Sofiane Oumiha and Bulgarian Daniel Asenov, a two-time European champion.

Both sides have already qualified for the playoffs but a win for the Lionhearts could see them leapfrog the Fighting Roosters into first place in the group.

British Lionhearts' head coach Rob McCracken is expecting a tough fixture.

“It’ll be a tough match between the two top placed teams to see who wins the European group, and qualifies onto the next stage of the tournament,” he said.

“The British Lionhearts are fielding a strong team, despite the Commonwealth Games currently being underway in Australia.

“With the boxers who would normally compete in the World Series of Boxing unable to feature in the team, it’s an opportunity for the other boxers to step up and show what they can do.

“The team will be in good spirits following on from their recent away victory in Croatia.

"We are up against a good team, it will be a great night of boxing for the fans.”

The other match in the European section this weekend will see the Croatian Knights take on Italia Thunder in Pula.

Both teams will be looking to return to form at the Mate Parlov Sport Center after they both suffered defeats last time out.

Italia Thunder lost to France Fighting Roosters by a narrow 3-2 scoreline whilst Croatian Knights were thrashed 4-1 by British Lionhearts.

In the Asian group, reigning WSB champions Astana Arlans Kazakhstan will host winless China Dragons at the Taraz Arena whilst Colombia Heroicos welcome Cuba Domadores to Combarranquilla in Soledad for their Americas group clash.
