Mäkelä-Nummela followed up her victory in Changwon with another trap triumph as she scored 44 hits in the final round at the newly-built National Shooting Ranges.

The Beijing 2008 Olympic Games gold medallist finished three in front of nearest challenger Katrin Quooß of Germany.

Quooß qualified in top spot but was unable to match the Finnish shooter's accuracy as she was forced to settle for the silver medal on a total of 41.

It quickly became clear it would be a straight shoot-out between the two athletes as Russian Ekaterina Rabaya, who represented her country at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, claimed bronze with 30 hits.

"I’m happy with my performance, I started really well and then I was able to keep that pace despite the weather, it was very hot today,” said Mäkelä-Nummela.

"I’d say it was like a Finnish sauna!”

"The experience I gained in many finals is very important, so of course, I think it played an important role in today’s match."

Carole Cormenier of France concluded the match in fourth as she hit 27 targets.

It meant she missed out on the opportunity to clinch the second World Cup medal of her career after she won bronze in San Marino in 2016.
