It will be an especially big weekend of competition for the Norwegians, as not only will they be competing on home snow, one place on their 2019 World Championship team is still up for grabs and will be decided this weekend.

Espen Andersen, Magnus Krog and Magnus Moan are all still in the running for the spot, as is Jens Luras Oftebro, though he is currently competing at the FIS Nordic Junior World Championships in Lahti in Finland.

The competition in Trondeim will feature a newly designed finish area which allows spectators in the grandstand even closer to the action.

It has been created as Trondheim hopes to host a World Championships in the future.

Another looking to use the home atmosphere to his advantage will be Jarl Magnus Riiber, current leader of the overall World Cup standings on 858 points.

Riiber may be extra confident of securing victory as last week’s winner Mario Seidl from Austria, will not take part this time out.

The Austrian put in a near flawless performance last Sunday (January 20) to win in Chaux-Neuve but has since come down with a cold and so has not travelled to Trondheim.

Instead, Riiber's closest challenger may come through Germany's Fabian Rießle, who finished second last time out.

His compatriot Johannes Rydzek is also expected to be a threat to Riiber.

Rydzek currently sits third in the overall World Cup standings on 648 points, behind only Riiber and Seidl.
