The 24-year-old scored 550.05 points from six dives at the Canadian city's Olympic Sports Centre.

China’s Yang Jian and Yang Hao finished second and third, respectively, with the former managing 537.60 points and the latter posting 497.15.

Daley’s gold was his first at a FINA Diving World Series event since 2012, when he triumphed in London.

He also collected two silver medals in Montreal, one in the men’s 10m synchronised platform with Matthew Lee on Friday (April 26) and a second in today’s mixed 3m synchronised springboard with Grace Reid.

"It’s my most successful Diving World Series," Daley said.

"There was still things I wasn’t 100 per cent happy with, but it was enough to win the gold medal. 

"It’s always nice to compete against the Chinese divers because they are the best in the world and to challenge them as often as possible is something I strive to do."

Daley and Reid finished behind Chinese winners Chang Yani and Yang Hao in the mixed 3m synchronised springboard.

They registered 314.10 points to Chang and Yang's 318.15.

Rounding off the podium were home favourites Jennifer Abel and François Imbeau-Dulac with 310.89 points.

In the women's 3m springboard, China's Wang Han came out on top with 377.40 points.

Compatriot Shi Tingmao, the Olympic champion, finished second with 370.00 points, while Australia's Maddison Keeney ranked third with 354.85.

The next leg of the FINA Diving World Series is scheduled to take place in Russian city Kazan from May 10 to 12.

The campaign will then come to an end in London from May 17 to 19.
