Defending champions Cameroon and Benin both advanced through to the last-16 of the Africa Cup of Nations after playing out a goalless draw at Ismailia Stadium.

The result meant Cameroon finished second in Group F behind Ghana, who beat Guinea-Bissau 2-0 at Suez Stadium to top the standings on goals scored.

Both teams ended on five points and a goal difference of plus-two, and drew 0-0 when they played each other on Saturday (June 29).

Benin went through as one of the four best third-placed teams.

Awaiting Cameroon in the first knock-out round are set to be Group B runners-up Nigeria.

Benin will take on Group D winners Morocco for a place in the quarter-finals.

Cameroon came closest to scoring in today's match but both Ambroise Oyongo and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting had good attempts saved by goalkeeper Saturnin Allagbe.

Jordan Ayew put Ghana 1-0 up against Guinea-Bissau early in the first-half and Thomas Partey found the net from Baba Rahman's delivery in the 72nd minute to wrap up the win.

Later today, Mali advanced to the last-16 as Group E winners by defeating Angola 1-0 at Ismailia Stadium.

Amadou Haidara registered the only goal of the match in the 37th minute, scoring with a well-struck shot from outside the area.

The result meant that Angola, who finished third in Group E, missed out on a place in the knockout stages.

It also meant Group D's South Africa went through as one of the four best third-place finishers.

Today's other Group E game saw Tunisia reach the last-16, despite drawing 0-0 with Mauritania at Suez Stadium.

Mali will next face Group D runners-up Ivory Coast, while Tunisia will meet Ghana.

South Africa, meanwhile, will go up against hosts Egypt.

Following two rest days, the first two last-16 ties, between Uganda and Senegal and Morocco and Benin, are due to take place on Friday (July 5).
