The 19-year-old Chinese player is the latest to emerge from the sport's powerhouse nation and won in California after coming through the qualification tournament.

Zhiyi downed South Korea's third seed Kim Ga-eun in the final at Titan Gym, 21-18, 21-19.

It means the teenager has gone one better after losing in the final of the Canada Open, another World Tour event, last weekend.

The Buenos Aires 2018 runner-up did not drop a game throughout the tournament as Kim was unable to back-up her semi-final win against Canada's top seed Michelle Li yesterday.

Li Shifeng, China's boys' Youth Olympic champion in Buenos Aires, won his first title at the Canada Open with the country's production line of talent clearly continuing to roll.

The men's singles also crowned a 19-year-old winner as Chinese Taipei's qualifier Lin Chun-yi capped a superb tournament.

The youngster eased past Thailand's Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk in an all unseeded final which ended 21-10, 21-13.

Lin had already beaten China's Li and South Korea's top seed Lee Dong-keun en-route to the final.

Chinese Taipei were able to add a second title in the mixed doubles as qualifiers Lee Jhe-huei and Hsu Ya-ching beat France's fourth seeds Thom Gicquel and Delphine Delrue 21-17, 21-17.

Their team missed out in the men's doubles final, though, as second seeds Lee Yang and Wang Chi-lin were forced to retire against South Korea's sixth seeds Ko Sung-hyun and Shin Baek-cheol.

The Koreans led 21-13, 17-21, 6-3 at the time.

In the women's doubles final, Japan's top seeds Nami Matsuyama and Chiharu Shida beat fifth seeds Baek Ha-na and Jung Kyung-eun of South Korea 21-16, 21-16.

The tournament is rated as a Super 300 event on the World Tour.
