para posterNovember 4 - Six specially commissioned posters for the London 2012 Paralympic Games were today unveiled and made available for the public to purchase.

London 2012 revealed the posters, designed by some of the UK's top artists, here at Tate Britain and they will form a free exhibition as part of the London 2012 Festival next summer.

The images, which will also be used as part of the campaign to promote the Games, are described as a celebration of the meeting of art and sport over the past 100 years.

Fiona Banner, Michael Craig-Martin, Tracey Emin, Gary Hume, Sarah Morris and Bob and Roberta Smith created the Paralympic posters.

Designs include a large circular form representing the wheel of a wheelchair and a black tennis ball hanging in mid-air waiting for a tennis racquet to smash it across a net, and a stopwatch with the word 'GO'.

Controversial artist Emin wrote "you inspire me with your determination And I Love You" above her picture of two birds.

Six more posters, for the Olympic Games, were launched alongside those for the Paralympics, and Tate director Nicholas Serota said: "We are delighted British artists have produced such compelling images in response to the Olympic and Paralympic Games."

Posters are available to be bought for £7 each from the London 2012 website.
