Athletics, wheelchair basketball and swimming are among those with good numbers of tickets for the public to purchase, and every day of the Games, which run from August 29 to September 9, still has availability.

Those wishing to purchase tickets can do so from as little as £5 ($8/€5.85) for youngsters and senior citizens, and £10 ($16/€11.70) for adults – more information is available by clicking here.

"The Paralympic Games are coming home next year and will undoubtedly be a time of extraordinary pride for our nation," said London 2012 chief executive Paul Deighton.

"I'm sure many will see these tickets as the perfect Christmas gift - a wonderful opportunity to host family and friends and support our GB athletes at the Games next year."

More than a million tickets have already been sold following unprecedented demand during the initial public application in September.

"To have sold over one million tickets worldwide for next year's Paralympic Games is unprecedented and underlines the growing appeal of Paralympic sport," said Sir Philip Craven, President of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).

"My message is simple: buy your tickets now, as I can promise you that you will witness something pretty special next year."
