Ralph Lauren_reveal_London_2012_ambassadorsDecember 15 - Ralph Lauren Corporation, an official outfitter of the United States Paralympic team, have unveiled swimming star Jessica Long and wheelchair basketball player Matt Scott as their brand ambassadors for London 2012.

Long is one of the most recognisable faces in US Paralympics sport and despite her tender age of 19, she already has seven Paralympic gold medals in her collection.

After having her legs amputated when she was 18-months-old due to lower leg anomalies, Long burst onto the scene by claiming three gold medals at the Athens 2004 when she was just 12 and then went on to claim another four gold medals at the Beijing 2008 Paralympics.

Meanwhile 26-year-old Scott, who is in a wheelchair due to his condition has spina bifida, was part of the gold medal winning US team at the Rio 2007 Parapan American Games and competed at both Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008, narrowly missing out on a medal both times.

He shot to stardom by becoming the first US Paralympian to star in a Nike advertisement and both he and long will now get to wear top Ralph Lauren clothing during the London 2012 Paralympics due to their role as ambassadors.

"These athletes embody the true spirit of American sportsmanship and we are proud to have them wear our product as they represent Team USA," said David Lauren, the vice-president of advertising, marketing and corporate communications at Ralph Lauren.

The two Paralympic stars join a number of Olympic stars, including triple Olympic swimming champion Ryan Lochte, as Ralph Lauren London 2012 ambassadors.

As part of the agreement, Ralph Lauren are set to design the official Opening Ceremony and Closing Ceremony parade uniforms for Team USA at both the Olympic and Paralympics, as well as a unique collection of village wear apparel and accessories.

The Ralph Lauren 2012 Collection for men, women and children will be available for purchase beginning in May by clicking here.
