TIBU Maroc was in the running for the accolade along with the International Sambo Federation, for its Online Sambo Cup, and FLAG21, a Swiss-based organisation that focuses on integrating migrants to their new communities through sport.

The Moroccan non-government organisation's "Empowerment through Sport" programme works with underprivileged young people to empower them through sports programmes.

TIBU Maroc's activities started with an inter-university basketball tournament, and 10 years later it is considered Morocco's leading organisation in the field of social innovation through sport.

Its programmes are designed to boost young people's skills and foster the socio-economic involvement of Morocco's youth.

Marlène Harnois, a London 2012 bronze medallist in taekwondo for France, set up the announcement of the winner from Stade Louis II in Monaco.

In an acceptance speech, TIBOC Maroc members stated: "Without you, and your confidence in our initiative, nothing would be possible.

"Thanks to our dear partners for their presence and daily support.

"Thanks to our beneficiaries, our heroes, for trusting us and our commitment.

"Thank you, dear jury, for believing in us and our initiative.

"Solidary, competition and challengers - it is this spirit that we share with the organisation Peace and Sport, which we would like to thank for all of its programmes, activities and efforts in support of its ecosystem.

"Today is only the beginning of a long series of steps towards absolute success.

"To create life champions, through the power of sport."

Two of the five winners of the 2020 Peace and Sport Awards have now been announced, following Cambodian charity Indochina Starfish Foundation being crowned the Sport for Development and Peace Program of the Year yesterday.

The April6 Initiative of the Year winner will be announced tomorrow.
