Peel, who won gold in the women’s aerials at the World Championships three days ago, finished the World Cup standings on 450 points.

American Winter Vinecki came second with 343, while Thénault’s victory saw her climb into the top three on 312.

In the men’s event in Almaty, the top two spots were taken by Swiss skiers as Pirmin Werner edged out compatriot Nicolas Gygax with a winning score of 121.72.

Gygax finished on 119.46 to secure silver with Canadian Lewis Irving coming third with 113.28.

Crystal globe winner Maxim Burov, who has won five stages this season, produced a below-par performance as he came 10th on 77.37.

The Russian accumulated 526 points from the seven legs to finish top of the pile ahead of Swiss duo Noé Roth and Werner who recorded 320 and 305 respectively.
