Cristian Roldán, coordinator of the Olympic Solidarity programmes of the Argentine Olympic Committee (COA), gave a virtual presentation to mark the opening of the eighth edition of its Advanced Course in Sports Management (MOSO).

Silvia Dalotto-Marcó, director of the MOSO, then spoke on "Structure of the Olympic Movement".

The course, designed by the International Olympic Committee, is intended to improve the management capacity of volunteers and paid personnel within National Federations.

The course will take place over nine months in 15 face-to-face sessions.

The remaining time will be devoted to distance learning through an educational platform and the preparation of case studies.

Present at the Opening Ceremony of the MOSO were Víctor Sergio Groupierre, deputy secretary of the COA and titular tutor of MOSO, José Luis Marcó , permanent member of the institution, its general manager Carlos Ferrea and Emiliano Ojea , member of the Education Commission and the Olympic Academy of the COA and president of the Federation of Argentine University Sports (FEDUA).

Marcó made the point that this was "not a course created by the Argentine Olympic Committee, but rather a programme of the International Olympic Committee that is disseminated in its different countries.

"The Argentine Olympic Committee has been developing it for many years and has generated international prestige as a result of the enormous effort and work of a whole team.

"Personal training is not the primary intention, which of course is basic and fundamental, the important thing is that you become agents of change within your federation.

"They are going to work on projects, and the wish of the Argentine Olympic Committee and the International Olympic Committee is that these projects bear fruit and then become reality. Because otherwise the only thing we will have done is train, but we will not have improved sports management at all.

"This course, which is given in many countries around the world, has been internationally recognised as one of the best and most demanding.”

Groupierre added: "We started this new edition of the MOSO almost returning to normality, after having done it virtually last year.

"Within the Argentine Olympic Committee: there are members of the council and the board of directors who have carried out this course.

"There are federation presidents who have taken this course, that is, they have sought to have tools to be able to properly manage their sports institutions."

He thanked Silvia Dalotto-Marcó, saying: "She is the one who trains and gives the courses to directors of this course at an international level."
