The line-up for the men’s finals was completed on the fifth day of competition at the Asian Elite Boxing Championships in Dubai, which saw plenty of hard-fought bouts that went to the judges scorecards.

Men’s semi-finals took place at the Grand Ballroom of the Le Meridien Hotel with action across ten weight categories.

In the welterweight division second seed Ablaikhan Zhussupov of Kazakhstan, a two-time World Championship bronze medallist, beat Battumur Misheelt of Mongolia by a unanimous points decision.

Zhussupov will face the top seed from Uzbekistan Bobo-Usmon Baturov in the final after Baturov beat India’s Vikas Krishan Yadav on points.

In the light-welterweight category second seed Chinzorig Baatarsukh of Mongolia defeated Elnur Abduraimov of Uzbekistan by a unanimous points decision to reach the final.

Baatarsukh will face Shiva Thapa of India after he overcame top seed Bakhodur Usmonov of Tajikistan, who won this category at Bangkok in 2019 on points.

In the lightweight category Daniyal Shakhbakhsh of Iran defeated Varinder Singh of India by a three points to two judges decision.

Shakhbakhsh will face Mongolia’s Erdenebat Tsendbaatar after he beat Abdumalik Khalakov of Uzbekistan by three points to two.

In the bantamweight category Enkh-Amar Kharkhuu of Mongolia overcame Akylbek Esenbek Uulu of Kyrgyzstan courtesy of a unanimous points decision.

Kharkhuu will take on Mirazizbek Mirzakhalilov of Uzbekistan after the defending International Boxing Association world champion defeated Junmilardo Ogayre of the Philippines by a unanimous points decision.


In the flyweight category Shakhobidin Zoirov of Uzbekistan overcame Azat Usenaliev of Kyrgyzstan on points.

Zoirov will take on Amit Panghal of India after he overcame Kazakhstan’s Saken Bibossynov by a unanimous points decision.

In the light-flyweight category Daniyal Sabit of Kazakhstan defeated Mark Lester Durens of the Philippines courtesy of a unanimous points decision.

Sabit will face Nodirjon Mirzakhmedov of Uzbekistan after he beat Mongolia’s Orkhontungalag Unubold with his victory also coming courtesy of a unanimous points decision.

In the middleweight category top seed Eumir Felix Marcal of the Philippines claimed a unanimous points decision against Jafarov Saidjamshid of Uzbekistan.

Marcal will face Abilkhan Amankul of Kazakhstan in the final after he upset second seed Seyedshahin Mousavi of Iran to win courtesy of a unanimous points decision.

In the light heavyweight category Meysam Gheshlaghi of Iran won on points against Erkin Adylbek Uulu of Kyrgyzstan.

Gheshlaghi will face Ruzmetov Dilshodbek of Uzbekistan after the second seed secured a unanimous points victory against Shabbos Negmatulloev of Tajikistan.

In the heavyweight category top seed VassiIIy Levit of Kazakhstan was a unanimous points winner against Rustam Yrysbek Uulu of Kyrgyzstan.

Levit will face Sanjeet of India in the final who was also a unanimous points winner against Sanjar Tursunov of Uzbekistan.

Finally in the super-heavyweight category top seed Jalolov Bakhodir of Uzbekistan triumphed when the referee stopped his contest against Abdulrahman Alanzi of Kuwait in the second round.

Bakhodir will face second seed Kamshibek Kunkabayev of Kazakhstan in the final, after he ran out a unanimous points winner against Pouria Amiri of Iran.
