Rio 2016 runners-up Serbia overcame the Philippines to make it two wins from two and advance to the next stage of their home men's Olympic basketball qualification tournament in Belgrade.

Boban Marjanović once again starred with a double-double, as Serbia edged it 83-76.

Marjanović scored 25 points and collected 10 rebounds in the winning effort.

It leaves Serbia top of Group A on four points, while the Philippines will play the Dominican Republic tomorrow for the remaining semi-final spot.

Italy and Puerto Rico are already assured of advancing from Group B by virtue of Senegal having to withdraw because of a COVID-19 outbreak.

The tournament is one of four men's basketball qualifiers underway, with each offering a lone Tokyo 2020 berth.

In Kaunas in Lithuania, Slovenia beat Angola 118-68 to eliminate the Africans.

Global star Luka Dončić put up 13 points, nine assists, six rebounds and five steals in just 17 minutes on the court.

Poland and Slovenia will advance from Group B, while in Group A Venezuela's 94-80 win versus South Korea means they are through, as the margin of victory was bigger than the margin of defeat when they lost to the host nation yesterday.

South Korea must beat Lithuania by 13 points or more tomorrow to stay alive.

Over in Split in Croatia, Mexico and Brazil both advanced.

Buoyed by 20 points from Rafael Hettsheimeir, Brazil beat the hosts 94-67 to ensure they will top Group B.

In Group A, Mexico's 72-64 win against ROC means they will finish in the top two.

At the other qualifier in Victoria, hosts Canada booked their place in the semi-finals with a 109-79 thrashing of China.

Turkey are also through to the last four following an 87-70 win over the Czech Republic.
