Four prizes are set to be presented at the next World Fair Play Awards and the International Fair Play Committee (CIFP) has launched a call for nominations to be submitted by February 15 2022.

The Pierre de Coubertin World Fair Play Trophy will be awarded to an athlete or team for an act of fair play that could have or did cost them victory or downgraded their performance.

The Jean Borotra World Fair Play Trophy will be presented to someone for a "remarkable general attitude showed all along his/her sport career, for an outstanding and constant spirit of fair play, for observing the unwritten rule of sport not to take advantage of an opponent's bad luck."

A person or organisation who has launched an activity or promotion which encourages fair play can be considered for the Wlili Daume World Fair Play Trophy.

The final accolade, the Jacques Rogge World Fair Play Trophy for the Youth, is to be given to an athlete or under-20 team for a gesture of fair play.

It is named after the former International Olympic Committee President who was the driving force behind establishing the Youth Olympic Games, and who died earlier this year.

"Year 2021 has been slightly [more] exciting in respect of sports than the previous year, but the problems caused by COVID-19 unfortunately continued affecting sports life considerably," said Jenő Kamuti, President of the CIFP.

"Outstanding competitions were organized with empty stands or spectators could enter into sports venues in limited number, though at the same time there were also competitions, matches organized with full house and within real fans’ atmosphere.

"The International Fair Play Committee announces a Call for Nominations this year, such as every year, on sportingly fair acts.

"The Committee kindly asks the public if they have seen or heard sportingly fair acts, please send it to us.

"Owing to televisions and broadcasts, millions of people watch competitions and matches, therefore we are sure that during our next award ceremony we can grant numerous cases with exemplary behaviours.

"Thank you for the nominations in advance."
