Olympic champions Mikaël Kingsbury and Perrine Laffont claimed victory in the opening dual moguls event of the Freestyle Ski World Cup season in Idre Fjall.

Canadian Kingsbury pipped Ikuma Horishima of Japan, who won yesterday's moguls event, to top the podium in the Swedish resort.

Ludvig Fjällström of Sweden finished third in the final at his home competition.

With the victory, Kingsbury, the reigning world moguls and dual moguls champion made the perfect start to retain his overall title.

The Canadian star is the dominant force in the moguls discipline and will be the one to beat in the event at the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing.

Laffont, who also won moguls gold at the 2018 Olympics in Pyeongchang, reigned supreme in the women's event.

The French skier edged out Japan's Rino Yanagimoto, who was forced to settle for second place.

Jakara Anthony of Australia came through to secure third.
