Less than 24 hours away from the launch of the Championship, Barron Mamiya of Hawaii is leading the 2022 men’s rankings so far with 13,320 total points followed by Kanoa Igarashi of Japan with 12,545.

Among the women, Brisa Hennessy of Costa Rica has secured her spot with 14,745 while Malia Manuel of Hawaii is still in second place with 12,545 total points.

Italo Ferreira of Brazil, who won the Championship for two consecutive years, has spoken of his excitement for the event through his Instagram page. He will be pitted against his friend Jadson Andre from Brazil and Vasco Ribeiro from Portugal in his opening heat.

The weather forecast looks favourable with lots of swell and organisers say they are hoping to see a "solid surf" during the event.

The men's Championship Tour rankings are currently led by Barron Mamiya of Hawaii with 13,320.

In second place is Kanoa Igarashi of Japan with 12,545, the same score as Seth Moniz of Hawaii.

Brazil's Caio Ibelli is in fourth with 12,170, while Kelly Slater of the United States is in fifth with 11,330.

Malia Manuel of Hawaii is in second with 12,545, with her compatriot Moana Jones Wong third on 11,045.

Another Hawaiian Carissa Moore is fourth on 10,410 with Johanne Defay of France fifth on 9,490.
