Norwegians Jarl Magnus Riiber and Gyda Westvold Hansen won the provisional competition rounds (PCR) on the first day of the Nordic Combined World Cup event in Schonach.

Riiber and Hansen came top in the men’s and women’s provisional competition rounds at Langenwald Schanze in the HS106 event today.

Riiber achieved the furthest jump of the day, reaching 102 metres.

This jump gave Riiber 142.4 points and was enough to hand him victory in the PCR.

Riiber triumphed in front of Japanese competitors Yoshito Watabe and Ryota Yamamoto, who came second and third respectively.

The overall World Cup leader Johannes Lamparter of Austria placed 10th with 94 metres and a total of 128.1 points.

Westvold Hansen’s win in the women's PCR earlier in the day made it a double for Norway.

Hansen’s jump of 97.5 metres earned her victory with 127 points.

Junior world champion Annika Sieff of Italy took second place whilst Slovenia’s Ema Volavsek finished took third.

Men's and women's normal hill World Cup events in the HS106 category are scheduled to take place tomorrow and Sunday (March 13).
