Madagascar and Egypt won the men’s and women’s titles at the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) 3x3 Africa Cup titles in Cairo.

Hosts Egypt featured in both the men’s and women’s finals against Madagascar, and in the men’s Madagascar came out on top 20-17.

Livio Ratianarivo scored 12 points to help Madagascar take gold, while Elly Randriamampionona scored four, and finished as the tournament’s top scorer with 34 points.

In the bronze-medal match, Rwanda overcame Tunisia 21-17.

In the women’s event, the fortunes were reversed with Egypt winning the tournament for the second time in a row after overcoming Madagascar 21-11.

Soraya Mohamed top scored for Egypt in the final with 12 points, while Nadine Mohamed, who went on to be named as the tournament’s most valuable player, netted four goals.

Debora Mayimona, part of the Democratic Republic of Congo team that won bronze, was the tournament’s top scorer.

DR Congo took bronze following a 19-13 victory over Tunisia.

The winners of the men’s and women’s finals have qualified for the FIBA 3x3 World Cup 2023, due to be held in Austria, Vienna, with the runners-up qualifying for the FIBA 3x3 World Cup 2023 qualifier, due to be held in Israel.
