French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF) President Brigitte Henriques is expected to lead a meeting in-person next Tuesday (December 13) for the first time since taking sick leave almost two months ago.

"The Presidency is not vacant and the CNOSF is not at a standstill, it is moving forward on the files," CNOSF secretary general Astrid Guyart, one of a group of four officials put in charge of the administration of CNOSF in Henriques’ absence, told the French sports newspaper L'Équipe.

The quartet have convened a gathering of representatives of the governing bodies of French sport to meet informally on Thursday (December 8) to discuss the situation.

Henriques is reported to have chaired a meeting of leading CNOSF officials by videolink last week.

She had been on sick leave since mid-October following a longstanding dispute which led to the dismissal of former secretary general Didier Seminet.

Henriques accused Seminet of "psychological violence", and has been met with a counter claim of "slanderous denunciation" in what appears to have become an increasingly acrimonious dispute.

The newspaper has highlighted further speculation about the future of Henriques at the head of the CNSOF.

"The situation must be regularised," French Athletics Federation President André Giraud, told L'Équipe.

"You don't run an institution like that with four people.

"At the beginning of next year, we have to have a real boss."

Henriques has insisted she will not step down from the post and is thought to command sufficient support in the CNOSF.

The 1988 show jumping gold medallist Pierre Durand and French Fencing Federation President Bruno Gares have both been mentioned as potential successors in French media.

The International Olympic Committee has said that it "encourages the parties concerned and the competent bodies of the CNOSF to resolve the problems as quickly as possible and in accordance with the statutes of the CNOSF."
