The Solomon Islands Table Tennis Championships have taken place at Friendship Hall, one of the venues set to be used at the 2023 Pacific Games.

It was held over three days from December 9 to 11 and was hosted by the Solomon Islands National Table Tennis Federation, with support from the National Sports Council and the Solomon Islands 2023 National Hosting Authority, who operate the newly-built facility.

Faye Indu, President of the Solomon Islands National Table Tennis Federation explained this was a great chance to find the best players for the Games next year.

"Our intention was to provide an avenue to rank our current athletes and also to kick start the open selection of prospective athletes for the Games in 2023," said Indu.

"We have not held a table tennis competition since the [COVID-19] pandemic and we saw this as the perfect opportunity to reignite our annual Championships."
