Olympic gold medallists Jørgen Graabak and Jens Lurås Oftebro were joined by world champion Gyda Westvold Hansen and Ida Marie Hagen as rapid performances in the cross-country aspect secured the victory in Estonia.

The quartet amassed 457.3 points in the initial ski jumping round, behind Germany's leading 463.7, which put them six seconds behind starting the deciding relay race.

It did not matter, however, as they powered across the line in 36min 13.6sec to beat Manuel Faißt, Jenny Nowak, Nathalie Armbruster, and Julian Schmid by a convincing 18.2-second margin.

Austria's Franz-Josef Rehrl, Lisa Hirner, Annalena Slamik, and Lukas Greiderer then crossed the line to claim the bronze medal with 37:37.2 on the clock.

"We are in the same camps, both girls and boys, so I think we are very good this year," said Oftebro.

"We are confident with each other and we showed today that we are the strongest at the moment but there are still a few months until the World Championships so we will see which team is the best there."

The World Championships are set to take place from February 22 until March 5 in Planica in Slovenia.

It is the only other mixed team nordic combined event on this year's calendar, although it is not included in the World Cup.  

Hansen was also victorious in the women's provisional competition round as she fended off challenges from 28 other athletes to give herself the advantage going into the decider on Sunday (January 8).

Her 127.0 points saw her beat Lisa Hirner of Austria and German Svenja Wuerth with 125.8 and 120.4 respectively.

Julian Schmid of Germany, Estonian Kristjan Ilves, and Oftebro currently lead the men's event with respective totals of 128.2, 126.8, and 125.6.
