He was additionally assured that the project would be completed ahead of schedule, with the rest of the minor works including surface dressing and asphalt being well in hand.

Gottfried, who also briefed the Minister, said they were engaging the Minister of Food and Agriculture to relocate its animals at the Animal Husbandry establishment to avoid the nuisance caused to the animals by the noise and dust from the earth moving equipment.

He said about 50 per cent of utilities had been relocated and expressed optimism that the rest of the work would be addressed in the coming weeks.

He expressed the Government’s commitment towards continuing with all ongoing projects to eradicating constraints to socioeconomic development.

Amoako-Atta said they had been charged with the responsibility of ensuring all roads were tarred to promote development and hence would not rest until the President’s vision for the road sector was fulfilled.

"The Government will continue to support local contractors who excel in order to ensure the citizenry have value for money in any project awarded by them," he said.

The Accra 2023 African Games are due to take place from August 4 to 19.
