The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) has released a new strategy under the slogan "Vision, History & Achievement" for the years 2023 to 2030, in the run-up to the Doha Asian Games.

Multiple prominent members were in attendance at the Marsa Malaz Kempinski Hotel in Doha, including QOC President Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, QOC first vice-president Mohamed bin Yousef Al-Mana, the QOC second vice-president Thani bin Abdulrahman Al Kuwari, the QOC secretary general Jassim bin Rashid Al Buenain and Presidents of national sport federations and clubs in Qatar.

The aim will be to ensure excellence in sports, boost Olympic culture and improve sustainability in sports.

This will also launch an initiative to help residents of the country to adopt healthy lifestyles and build elite Qatari sports teams to compete in major international events, as they provide these athletes necessities to live their lives, including their health, career and education.

Another goal for the QOC is to provide women equal opportunities to compete in sports, which has allowed them to compete in the last three Olympic Games at London 2012, Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020.

Recently Qatari athletes found major success in international tournaments.

Mutaz Barshim, Qatar's most successful athlete, earned gold at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in high jump, marking his third straight gold medal and becoming the first athlete to do so.

Fares Ibrahim, a Qatari weightlifter, claimed one gold and one silver at the 2022 World Weightlifting Championships.

The nation also had its most successful Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020, winning two golds and a bronze.

In 2021, Qatar received the National Olympic Committees Breakthrough Award at the Association of National Olympic Committees Awards in Greece.

The 2030 Asian Games is due to take place in Doha, with Qatar looking forward to the event and hoping that their strategy pays off by then.
