Colombia and Mexico grabbed top honours in swimming events on day four of competition at the Central American and Caribbean Games in El Salvador and the Dominican Republic.

Tokyo 2020 Olympian Mónica Arango of Colombia won gold in the solo technical artistic swimming with a score of 223.7517.

Her total was 13 points better than three-time Pan American Games silver medallist Joana Jiménez of Mexico.

Jiménez claimed silver with 210.9500 points while bronze went to Kyra Hoevertsz of Aruba, who scored 196.6833.

The roles were reversed in the dual technical with Jiménez combining with Nuria Diosdado to score 222.1617 and clinch the title.

Melissa Ceballos and Estefania Roa Bernal won silver for Colombia, finishing far behind Mexico with 179.6833 points.

Aruban pair of Hoevertsz and Mikayla Morales settled for bronze, finishing with 175.7467 points.

The women's 100 metres breaststroke saw 19-year-old Stefania Gómez clinch gold in 1min 08.97sec.

Mexican Melissa Rodríguez was right behind her on 1:09.24, winning silver while bronze went to 34-year-old Mercedes Toledo, with the Venezuelan clocking 1:10.77.

Tayde Sansores of Mexico touched the line in 28.59 to win the women's 50m breaststroke title.

Emma Harvey ensured Bermuda's first medal of the Games by claiming silver in 29.01 while Elizabeth Jimenez of the Dominican Republic stood on top of the final podium spot.

Her bronze medal came after clocking 29.44.

Colombian golds continued through Karen Durango, who won the women's 400m freestyle title in 4:15.56.

Elisbet Gámez of Cuba in 4:16.34 and Maria Yegres of Venezuela in 4:18.19 won silver and bronze, respectively.

Three-time World Championships medallist Dylan Carter of Trinidad and Tobago won the men's 100m freestyle in 48.49, beating his own Games record.

Mikel Schreuders of Aruba won silver in 49.17 with bronze going to Jorge Iga of Mexico in 49.38.

In the men's 4x200m freestyle relay, Mexico finished in 7:22.94 for gold with Colombia and Venezuela coming second and third, repsetcively.

The followed it up by claiming the mixed 4x100m medley relay title in 3:52.99 with Colombia and Venezuela repeating the feat.

Colombia won three titles in weightlifting as well, starting with world champion Francisco Mosquera.

Mosquera won the men's 67kg by totalling 317kg, with silver medallist Reinner Arango of Venezuela 23kg behind.

Bronze went to Luis González of Puerto Rico, who managed to total 273.

World silver medallist Rosalba Morales and three-time Pan American Games champion Miguel Suárez won titles in the women's and men's 55kg categories, respectively.

Morales totalled 197kg with Rosselyn Uzcategui of Venezuela claiming silver in 193kg and bronze going to Mexican Yudheiky Panti, who managed 185kg.

Suárez lifted 244kg overall for the gold medal 237kg and 232kg.
