Ethiopia’s Berihu Aregawi won the men’s 5,000m in 12:40.45 - putting him fifth fastest of all time - ahead of Uganda’s Olympic champion and world record holder Joshua Cheptegei, who clocked 12:41.61.

India’s Tokyo 2020 men’s javelin champion Neeraj Chopra won with an effort of 87.66 metres from Germany’s European champion Julian Weber, who reached 87.03, with the Czech Republic’s Olympic silver and world bronze medallist Jakub Vadlejch, third on 86.13m.

In the women’s 100m hurdles, Tokyo 2020 champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn of Puerto Rico, who beat 2022 world champion and record holder Tobi Amusan of Nigeria in Ostrava earlier this week did so again, by 12.40 to 12.47, with Tia Jones of the United States third on 12.51 and Poland’s Pia Skryzyszowksa fourth in 12.81.

Ryan Crouser of the United States, world and Olympic champion in the men’s shot put as well as the world record holder, won with an effort of 22.29 from New Zealand’s 2017 world champion Tom Walsh, who managed 11.29.

Kenya’s Mary Moraa, who beat Britain’s Keely Hodgkinson to Commonwealth gold in Birmingham last year, has done so again with a season’s best of 1:57.43.

Hodgkinson, the Olympic and world silver medallist, was second in 1:58.37.

Katie Moon, the world and Olympic women’s pole vault champion, won with a clearance of 4.82m, the best seen so far this season, with Finland’s European champion Wilma Murto second on 4.77 and Eliza McCartney, New Zealand's Rio 2016 bronze medallist, third on 4.71m.

Greece’s Olympic men’s long jump champion Miltiadis Tentoglou suffered a rare defeat as his best distance of 8.07m was overtaken by the 8.11m jumped by LaQuan Nairn of the Bahamas.

Kenya’s world record holder in the women’s 3,000m steeplechase, Beatrice Chepkoech, won in a meeting record of 9:05.98, ahead of the Ethiopian who tops this year’s world listing on 9:00.71, Sembo Almayew.

Femke Bol of The Netherlands set a meeting record of 52.76 in the 400m hurdles.

Botswana’s 20-year-old double world under-20 champion Letsile Tebogo, won the men’s 200m in 20.01.

Marie-Josee Ta Lou of the Ivory Coast maintained her winning start to the season in the women’s 100m, which she won in 10.88, with Britain’s Darryl Neita second in 11.07.

The day before, in Lausanne’s Place Centrale, Australia’s Nicola Olyslagers equalled her Oceanian record with a 2.02 metres world lead to win a high-quality women's high jump competition.

The Olympic silver medallist added a centimetre to the world lead she had shared with Ukraine’s world indoor champion Yaroslava Mahuchikh to win the street event, taking place as part of the Athletissima meeting.
