Double world champion Dania Jo Vizzi helped the United States to an overall victory at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Shotgun World Cup in Lonato as she clinched women's skeet gold.

She pipped compatriot Samantha Simonton at the Trap Concaverde in the Italian commune to add to her world titles from Osijek 2022 and Moscow 2017.

Vizzi ended with a score of 54 to claim a four-point victory while China's Jiang Yiting was the last to suffer elimination and settled for bronze as a result with a score of 43.

Vizzi held a lead going into the final round and, despite producing her worst stint of the final with two misses, she held off the challenge from Simonton who made an additional mistake.

Austen Jewell Smith and Vincent Hancock then combined for the US' crucial second gold medal that set them apart atop the medals table.

They got the better of Chile's Francisca Crovetto Chadid and Hector Andres Flores Barahona in the mixed team skeet contest.

The pair started phenomenally as they were on target with their first 14 shots while the Chileans had missed six times in the same period.

Smith and Hancock then recorded twice as many misses as their opponents in the second half of the match with six.

It did not matter as they had done enough to clinch victory, with the final score reading 42-39.

Australia, Denmark, and Britain shared second place at the World Cup as they won one gold medal each.
