Both Kazakhstan and South Korea enjoyed two gold medals today at the World Taekwondo Cadet Championships in Sarajevo.

Before the two countries went back-and-forth atop the podium, Thailand's Kanbusakorn Pichaisongkram ended the men's under-156-centimetre tournament victorious at the Arena Hotel Hills.

He comfortably defeated Kazakh Adilet Sheri 2-0 while bronze medals went to Heo Jung-mu of South Korea and Australian Kerim Yilmaz who both lost in the semi-finals.

There was a second consecutive disappointment in store for Kazakhstan as Nurperzent Samatuly lost out to South Korean Lee Dong-gun in the men's under-160cm decider, also by a 2-0 scoreline.

They were joined on the podium by Iranian Tasan Jafari and Kirati Yokpuang who claimed the bronzes.

The last men's title of the day went the way of Bauyrzhan Issamedin in the under-164cm class.

He ended Kazakhstan's poor form in the finals with a 2-0 triumph at the expense of German Christos Rafail Nitsas.

They took respective semi-final wins against bronze medallists Yanf Ding-fu of Chinese Taipei and Ecuadorian Fallos Franco Klaython.

South Korean Kim Garam picked up the first women's gold of the day as she battled her way to a close 2-1 triumph over Iranian Kosar Ojaglo.

The podium was comprised of Mexican Nahomi Guadalupe Martinez and American Kaelynn Yvonne Manalo of the United States in joint-third place.

A second Kazakh gold medal was achieved by Taissiya Borovikova in the women's under-160cm when she downed Azeri Shams Alizada 2-0.

South Korean Lee Han-eul and Jordan's Layan Al Rawashdah also medalled as they did enough to win bronze.

Competition is set to continue tomorrow with the men's under-172cm and under-168cm tournaments and the women's under-172cm, under-168cm, and under-164cm contests.
