The 15-year-old ace overcame two-time champion Meshref 4-1 to emerge victorious in the tournament at the Salle omnisports de Radès in Tunisia's capital.

Her victory came just days after she had teamed up with Meshref and Marwa Alhobady to seal a women’s team place for Egypt at Paris 2024 following a 3-0 victory over Nigeria. 

There was also delight for Egypt in the men’s team event as Mohamed El-Beiali, Omar Assar and Youssef Abdel-Aziz beat Nigeria’s 3-1 to clinch an Olympic ticket.

The other Paris 2024 quota on offer went to Egpyt after Assar and Meshref defeated Nigeria’s Olajide Omotayo and Olufunke Oshonaike 3-1 in the mixed doubles final.

Oshonaike was aiming to make her eighth appearance at the Olympics having first appeared at Atlanta 1996 and who had last featured at Rio 2016 but came up short in the gold-medal match.

The 47-year-old did leave Tunis with a gold medal after joining forces with Fatimo Bello to beat Egypt’s Marwa Alhodaby and Cameroon’s Sarah Hanffou 3-2 in the women’s doubles final.

Fabio Rakotoarimanana and Antoine Razafinarivo delivered men’s doubles gold for Madagascar with a 3-1 win over home favourites Youseff Ben Attia and Aboubaker Bourass.

Quadri Aruna of Nigeria captured the men’s singles crown with a 4-0 triumph against Egypt’s Ahmed Saleh.

"I am happy with the title because I have a good and bad memory of Tunis, having got injured here during the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games qualification," said Aruna.

"Winning another title here is good to erase the bad memory.

"This win will remain with me for a long time.

"I am happy and I look forward to the next challenge."
