Nigeria bagged 12 gold medals at the ITTF Africa Para Championships in Giza, with all winners earning quota places at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

The biggest upsets from the West African nation that topped the medals table came in the men's and women's singles.

The men's class four final saw Isau Ogunkunle shock London 2012 Paralympic bronze medallist Egypt's Sameh Eid 11-5, 9-11, 11-3, 6-11, 11-6.

Abiola Adesope did his part in the men's singles class 9, getting the better of countryman Francis Chukwuemeka 6-11, 11-5, 12-10, 11-8.

Bolawa Akingbemisilu in class 5, Kayode Alabi in class 6, Victor Farniloye in class 8 and Alabi Olufemi in class 10 all added to the nation's success.

Finally, two-time Paralympic gold medallist Tajudeen Agunbiade of Nigeria also won in the c9 class.

Among women, Ifechunkude Ikpeoyi pipped compatriot Chinenye Obiora 9-11, 11-8, 11-3, 14-12.

Her semi-final triumph over top seed Faiza Mahmoud of Egypt also raised eyebrows in the women's singles class 4-5.

Faith Obazuave triumphed in the class 10 category while Kehinde Lawal claimed the top prize in 9.

Eid and Mahmoud however got their consolation in doubles.

Teaming up with Mohamed Ragab, Eid clinched the men's doubles class 8 title while Mahmoud joined forces with Lamiaa Mohamed to win gold in the class 10 women's doubles and with Hassan Tolba in the mixed doubles.

Farniloye and Kayondi Alabi combined to win class men’s doubles class 14.

Home favourites Sayed Youssef and Khaled Ramadan came out on top in the class 7 and class 1-3.

Youssef also found success in doubles class 18 with Abdelrahman Abdelwahab and in the mixed doubles class 17 with Hanna Hammad.

Ramadan also added to the Egyptian tally by winning the mixed doubles class 7 with compatriot Fawza El-Shamy, the women's singles class 3 winner.
