The Vanuatu Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee (VASANOC) has hosted a World Clean Up Day event, inviting schoolchildren across the country to take part.

VASANOC partnered with two schools to allow pupils to clean their local areas as part of the global initiative.

The first event saw pupils from the Seaside Presbyterian School in Port Vila, which celebrates the 15th anniversary of its founding this year, clean the street and their school field.

The second event saw pupils from the Child Care Centre in Port Vila clear the Independence Parc in Port Vila.

VASANOC thanked schools, teachers and students for their participation and motivation in the clean-up activities.

Taking place annually and co-ordinated by Let’s Do It World, World Clean Up Day unites volunteers, Governments and organisations across almost 200 countries and territories, and encourages them to clean up their local area, with the goal of creating what it describes as "a new, more sustainable world."
