With the top two in the final women’s team qualification standings, the United States and Britain, having already secured places at next year’s Olympics, the spots went to the nations placed third to 11^th, as these were the highest eligible.

China, who finished third with a score of 165.663 led the qualifiers, followed by Brazil, who ended fourth with 164.297 and Italy who finished fifth with 162.230.

They were followed by the Netherlands in sixth who ended on 161.197, France in seventh with 160.930 and Japan, who placed eighth on 158.497, who complete the line-up for the team final at the World Championships at the Antwerp Sportpaleis in Belgium.

Three countries that missed out on the team final in Antwerp did at least have the consolation of securing Paris 2024 places.

The first of these was Australia in ninth with 157.896, followed by Romania in 10^th on 157.795, who secured a team berth for the first time since London 2012, and the Republic of Korea who finished 11^th with 157.297, securing the final place at the expense of Germany, who finished 0.169 points behind.

Today saw the remaining seven subdivisions in women’s qualifying however the top three in the all-around standings remained unchanged from yesterday.

Simone Biles of the United States, returning to international competition for the first time since Tokyo 2020, after which she took a break to focus on her mental health, leads the standings with 58.865.

Her compatriot Shilese Jones is second with 56.932, with Britain’s Jessica Gadirova in third on 56.766.

Fourteen athletes also secured Paris 2024 places through their finishing positions in the individual all-around qualification.

The highest placed of these was Kaylia Nemour of Algeria, who finished 13^th, and she was joined in earning a Paris 2024 spot by Pauline Schaefer-Betz of Germany, Mexico’s Alexa Moreno, Filipa Martins of Portugal, Aleah Finnigan of the Philippines, Lili Bettina Czifra of Hungary, Spain’s Alba Petisco, Anna Lashchevska of Ukraine, Lena Bickel of Switzerland, Hillary Heron of Panama, South Africa’s Caitlin Rooskrantz, Sona Artamonova of the Czech Republic, Lihie Raz of Israel and Lucija Hribar of Slovenia.

In the individual apparatus qualifications three disciplines were topped by Biles - the vault with a score of 14.949, the beam with 14.566 and the floor with 14.633.

In the uneven bars the standings were topped by China’s Qui Qiyuan with a score of 14.900, who on her World Championship debut overtook Jones' score from the previous day of 14.833. 

Biles finished in fifth in this discipline with a total of 14.400.

Competition is due to continue tomorrow with the first medals of the Championships set to be awarded in the men’s team final.
