Kaito Amano against Georgia's Aleksandre Loladze in the men's under-81kg and Komei Kawabata against Azerbaijan's Vugar Talibov in the men's under-90kg returned Japan to the top of the podium, along with Mayu Honda against Brazil's Kaillany Cardoso in the women's under-70kg.

Japan concluded individual competition with golds for Dota Arai against Uzbekistan's Rustam Shorakhmatov in the men's under-100kg final and Mao Arai against compatriot Miki Mukunoki in the women's over-78kg.

Kim Min-ju of South Korea was another winner on the final day of individual competition against The Netherlands' Lieke Derks in the women's under-78kg and Shalva Gureshidze of Georgia against İbrahim Tataroğlu of Turkey in the men's over-100kg.

Japan rounded off the World Judo Juniors Championships with the mixed team title won at the expense of France.

Hosts Portugal earned their first medal of the event with a mixed team bronze shared with Brazil.

Ukraine boycotted the event because of the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes as individual neutrals.

Three neutrals from Russia earned bronze medals - Timur Arbuzov in the men's under-81kg, Andzhei Pavliukov in the men's under-100kg and Kristina Dudina in the women's under-48kg.
