France's Senate Finance Committee has delayed a vote on payments for next year's Olympics and Paralympics due to concerns about the delivery of certain projects, it has been reported.

The Committee wants "more precise information" about the overall cost of the Games and the schedule of work, according to French newspaper Le Monde.

Committee member Éric Jeansannetas, a special rapporteur on the issue, warned "risks weigh" on the delivery schedule of Olympic works.

He said equipment which budget documents say will be received this year has now been pushed back to 2024.

This includes at venues such as the Stade de France, the Arena Porte de la Chapelle, the Grand Palais, the Athletes' Village and the marina for sailing in Marseille.

Jeansannetas admitted this was "not reassuring", Le Monde reported, as delays could mean extra costs.

He added that the Grand Palais, which is due to host fencing and taekwondo, was facing "significant delays" and was the "greatest concern".

"The administration, however, assures that all the works should be delivered before the start of the Games," Jeansannetas said.

According to Jeansannetas, security and transport are other areas which need addressing.

"It is likely that the state will have to mobilise internal security forces, the operational reserves of the police and the gendarmerie, as well as the military," he said.

"The overall costs relating to transport are also not known.

"A complete review of the impact on the state budget of the tax exemptions granted to the Games has not yet been established either.

"These uncertainties are regrettable, as we reach the home stretch of preparation for the Games."

The Olympics in Paris are due to run between July 26 and August 11, followed by the Paralympics from August 28 to September 8.
