Skarven_RaceJanuary 2 - Pyeongchang will have an opportunity to showcase its bid to host the 2018 Olympics and Paralympics when it stages a cross-country skiing event organised by the Norwegian Embassy in South Korea on January 29.

This is the third time the Embassy has organised the Skarven Race, which will take place at the Alpensia Cross-country Stadium in Pyeongchang County.

"Participation in the race is a great opportunity for anyone who wants to try cross-country skiing," said Norwegian Ambassador Didrik Tonseth.

The Norwegian Skarverennet is one of the largest cross-country competitions in the world.

The race, which has been regularly held since the early 1970s, starts at 1,222 metres above sea level in Finse and ends at Ustaoset, 1,000 meters above sea level.

The Skarven Race Korea is open to everyone, following in the original race's footsteps.

The Embassy hopes to see families with children participating.
