Live_8_Hyde_Park_July_2005February 25 - Live Nation Music UK have been appointed as the international event promoter for London's four "Fesitval Live Sites" during next year's Olympics and Paralympics, it was announced today.

The Live Sites planned for Hyde Park, Victoria Park, Trafalgar Square and Potters Fields Park - next to City Hall - will enable Londoners and visitors to come together to experience and celebrate the excitement of the Games on large outdoor screens.

A unique programme of free entertainment will be provided on the sites during the Olympic and Paralympic Games, including concerts, cultural and artistic performances and exhibitions to showcase London and the UK to the world, officials claim.

London Mayor Boris Johnson, The Royal Parks and Tower Hamlets have granted commercial rights to Live Nation, allowing them to stage concerts and offer hospitality packages, food and drink concessions and merchandising opportunities, which means that there will be no cost to the taxpayer.

"I want every Londoner and all our visitors to be able to share the experience of the greatest show on earth," said Johnson.

"These fantastic live sites will mean everyone can soak up the atmosphere and revel in the excitement of this sporting spectacular.

"Whether it is watching the Games as they unfold, or seeing a fabulous international act performing against these wonderful backdrops, we're in for a summer to remember."

Mark Camley, Chief Executive of The Royal Parks, promised that the events would be stunning.

"The Royal Parks will host some of the key venues for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and we are delighted that Hyde Park will not only be home to the triathlon and marathon swimming events – but to the largest Live Site in London as well," he said.

"Combining the beautiful surroundings of Hyde Park and the excitement of London during the Games, the atmosphere at the Live Site promises to be electric.

"There is nothing more perfect than summer in London's eight Royal Parks, but the summer of 2012 will be truly special.

"The Royal Parks look forward to welcoming thousands of visitors from London, the UK, and around the world, for what is set to be an unforgettable summer."
