"This is the kind of event that should provide real opportunities to people in the lead up to and beyond the Games."

Deighton said: "The London 2012 Job Board is a fantastic opportunity for people to get involved with the Games and play their part in helping put on the greatest show on earth.

"We have set ourselves the target of employing 15 to 20 per cent of the total workforce for the Games from people living in the six host boroughs.

"We will be encouraging our sponsors and contractors to support local employment opportunities from these boroughs and highlight the fantastic opportunities which will become available over the next 18 months.
