Harry Wiltshire_2_FebJanuary 5 - The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has dismissed an appeal from Harry Wiltshire (pictured) over the six month suspension meted out to him for unsportsmanlike behaviour at the European Championships last June.

Wiltshire was given the censure by the International Triathlon Union (ITU) after he appeared to impede the then world champion Javier Gómez during the Championship's swimming leg in Pontevedra.

He was given his suspension based on violation of the ITU competition rules for repeated unsportsmanlike conduct.

Wiltshire appealed against the decision with CAS in August.

After listening to evidence and examining video footage, CAS ruled that Wiltshire was guilty of violating the competition rules, and also defended the length of the sentence handed out.

Wiltshire now has to pay CHF2,500 ($2,725/€2,075/£1,724) in legal fees.

The ITU maintains that it is committed to preserving the integrity of the sport.

Wiltshire's legal team responded by expressing their surprise and disappointment.

"It is inappropriate for Harry himself to make any comment as he is being advised to look at an appeal of the decision of CAS to the Swiss Federal Court," they said.
