triathlon org_olympicsFebruary 12 - The International Triathlon Union (ITU) has launched triathlon.org/olympics, its official Olympics website which will keep the sport's latest news in the build-up to London 2012.

The site breaks down the qualification process, includes an up to date list of qualified athletes and even a course map of the triathlon competition at Hyde Park.

In total, 110 athletes - 55 men and 55 women - will be participating at the London 2012 course, which takes in Buckingham Palace and the Wellington Arch.

"Triathlon enters its fourth Olympic Games in what is undeniably an exciting sports year as London takes centre stage this summer," said ITU President Marisol Casado.

"We can already see the high demand and appetite for Olympic information and news.

"We expect triathlon to be one of the most popular and marquee sports of the London Olympics."

Race reviews and photo galleries from the previous Olympic triathlon competitions are available on the new website.

The qualification for the triathlon competition will conclude at the ITU World Triathlon leg in Madrid on May 26 to 27.

At London 2012, the women's triathlon competition begins at 9am on Saturday August 4 with the men's taking place at 11.30am on Tuesday August 7.
