jonathanhall-thumbFebruary 20 - USA Triathlon has announced that it has hired Jonathan Hall to take up the newly created Performance Leader post.

Hall is a highly regarded multisport coach who has been working at the Victorian Institute of Sport in Melbourne, Australia.

The Australian served as triathlon head coach there, having previously worked as an assistant and special coach with the national triathlon programme.

He has worked with athletes competing at World Championships and Olympic Games and will now be responsible for managing relationships between high performance staff and elite athlete coaches.

Hall will also be involved in developing team camps and training modules, as well as implementing race-day strategy.

The United States Triathlon coaching excellence programme and the resident athlete programme at the Colorado Springs Olympic Training Centre will be directed by Hall.

The Clermont International Triathlon Union Pan American Cup on March 3 will be his first event in the new post.

"I look forward to joining USA Triathlon's strong team of elite athletes, coaches and staff," said Hall.

"My aim is to bring an outside perspective to the High Performance team and create a collaborative platform for future performances so that USA Triathlon reaches its full potential and consistently posts medal-winning performances at the sport's biggest events."

Rob Urbach, the chief executive of USA Triathlon, said: "[Hall's] addition will complement the talented team already in place led by High Performance General Manager Andy Schmitz.

"Our aim is to regularly place U.S. elite athletes on the podium at world championship events and the Olympic Games, and Jonathan will help us reach that goal."

Hall also had a successful career with the Cycling Australia national team, winning the 1997 ITU Duathlon World Championship title and a number of duathlon events.
