Aibek Adigineev_May_10May 10 - A Train the Trainer programme, created by Generations for Peace in cooperation with National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan, for 35 youth leaders has concluded in Bishkek.

Generations for Peace, a non-profit making organisation using sport as a tool to tackle conflict, kicked off its bespoke Train the Trainer programme, which supports adult trainers as they train other adults, last Saturday (May 5).

Jyldyz Sattarova (pictured below, centre) and Aibek Adigineev (pictured above), two volunteer delegates who were trained at the Generations For Peace camp in Sochi two years ago, designed the programme for five troubled regions in their home country – Talas, Osh, Batken, Jalalabad and Naryn.

Kyrgyzstan has faced a series of political and deep-rooted socio-economic challenges, resulting in serious outbreaks of inter-ethnic violence around the nation.

Jyldyz contacted youth leaders across Kyrgyzstan to bring them together for the training programme to help promote peace in their communities.

She also contacted the country's Olympic Committee and several youth organisations, inviting them to participate.

"After attending Generations For Peace Sochi Camp 2010, I was inspired to engage other leaders of youth through similar training," she said.

"When I planned this programme, I wanted to pass on the knowledge and skills I learned to other leaders of youth, to help them implement their own programmes locally.

"This will surely bring about change in our communities.

"The knowledge I gained through my Generations For Peace training, allowed me to mainstream sport for peace and development in my professional life," added Jyldyz.

"What makes me excited the most is that I am capable now of cascading this knowledge to others."

"This programme is the ideal opportunity for our youth in Kyrgyzstan," said Aibek.

"I hope that by training leaders of youth from five different regions we can help bridge the divides and empower these volunteers to be agents of change."
