altNOVEMBER 9 - THE The International Hockey Federation (FIH) congress is being held in London this week at Lord's, a venue more normally associated with cricket but which will host archery during the 2012 Olympics.

More than 300 delegates from 82 countries around the world are being hosted by England Hockey and UK Sport in a week of international deliberation and decision making for hockey.

Philip Kimberley, England Hockey executive chairman, said: “England Hockey is delighted that we have been able to work with the FIH and UK Sport in hosting this Congress.

"Our emerging status in international sport as a leading governing body and one that will be a key player leading up to the Olympic Games in 2012 is something that we are all very proud of.

"We wish all of the delegates a successful and enjoyable stay in England and we thank UK Sport for their very generous grant, without which we would not have been able to host this very prestigious event.”

The team behind Glasgow's bid to host the 2014 Commonwealth Games hosted a dinner on Monday and tomorrow the governing bodies of Scotland, Wales and England are to host pre-dinner flights on the London Eye and then ‘Visit London’ and London 2012 are to host all the delegates at the congress dinner.
